Spreading from the eastern banks of  the Mississippi River to the steep majestic bluffs, La Crosse County enjoys a spectacular natural setting. Historical Attractions

From natural attractions to historical treasures, there's plenty to see and do in La Crosse County. The downtown historic walking tour in the City of La Crosse includes 96 buildings, one of the largest commercial historic districts in Wisconsin. The historic districts of Bangor, Onalaska, West Salem and other communities also depict the colorful history of the area. There are several museums including the Children's Museum and the Riverside USA Museum. The La Crosse area has many art galleries, antique shops, historic movie theatres, specialty shops, and restaurants, all with historic charm and ambiance.

Outdoor Recreation & Activities

La Crosse County is an outdoor enthusiast's dream -- from Grandad's Bluff which is known as the "best view in Wisconsin" and the other spectacular scenery to all the recreational activities available in the area. The Great River Trail and the La Crosse Trail, where the rivers, plants, flowers, trees, birds and animals provide breathtaking scenery, featuring 105 miles for biking and hiking. The fishing's great with 100's of species of fish native to the area. Over 20,000 acres of land provides some of the most plentiful hunting habitats in the Midwest, especially white-tailed deer, turkey, waterfowl and small game.  Camping, water activities, including swimming, boating, canoeing and kayaking, golfing, snowmobiling, down hill and cross-country skiing and snowboarding are all popular outdoor activities.
